STRATEGIC PLANNING
Whether you’re a large organization or a family-owned business, success begins with a clear vision of the future and the underlying guiding principles, mission, and understanding of your unique selling proposition. While passion can launch a good business, operating it with clear goals and objectives is crucial for optimum performance. The team at BCR brings creativity, experience, and objectivity to the strategic planning process to ensure that the plan is sound, innovative, and addresses the mission, values, and long-term goals of the company.

The process of developing an organizational strategy has three distinct steps:

  • Assessment - Defining the current state of the organization helps its leaders identify plans for getting the organization where it needs to be and to improve overall performance. We use technology, various assessment tools, and rely on our firm's 24 years of consulting expertise to get a true and accurate picture of the state of the organization's developing strategy.
  • Executing Strategy - Once the current state of the organization is defined, our approach engages people at all levels in the organization to execute the new strategic direction. Our tools and processes help the team commit to and implement the strategy and direction.
  • Managing Change - Whether we are implementing a completely new direction for the organization or simply reorganizing a department, change is often the hardest thing to work through. Whether we need to address entire employee groups, or coach a single executive, we offer practical tools and techniques to help people manage and embrace change.

BUSINESS PLANS
All too often entrepreneurs charge into business without taking the time to plan and understand the playing field in which they are operating. These are the businesses that will run into problems or possibly even face failure. Plans and goals can work like magic for a business. With a well researched and structured plan in hand, the road map for the organization is clearly defined and provides focus for the organization to determine how it is going to function.

BCR has extensive experience in the development of business plans for start up businesses, businesses that are planning expansions, mergers or other transitions, seeking funding and investors, family and businesses, securing bank financing, securing high level partners or employees, and other purposes. BCR has developed business plans for a wide range of industry segments including banking and finance, retail, professional service businesses, manufacturing, construction, visitor industry companies, and many others.

SWOT ANALYSIS
An integral element of the business plan is the assessment of an organizations strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT). The identification of these factors provides business owners with a holistic view of their internal and external environments. With this knowledge, business owners are equipped to recognize and acknowledge opportunities and limitations, set achievable, realistic goals, and implement well-thought out business ideas and concepts. BCR has conducted these analyses for numerous clients in diverse industries.

PLAN REVIEWS
BCR recommends and encourages its clients to conduct periodic reviews of their strategic plan, at least quarterly. These reviews ensure plans remain aligned with strategic vision and any changes that are occurring in the external and internal environments.

FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS
BCR provides Feasibility Analysis consulting which helps corporations, non-profits, and entrepreneurs thoroughly understand key business areas before making significant investments. These include:

  • Market research & analysis
  • Competition analysis
  • Financial forecasting
  • Human resources forecasting

SUCCESSION PLANNING
One of the most important ingredients of a well thought out strategic plan is the succession strategy for the owner and key managers. The team at BCR possesses expertise in this area with over 20 years of experience assisting in the development and implementation of succession planning for corporations, family business transitions, mergers and acquisitions. Let us share with you our unique strategies and success stories to help guide your plans into the next phase of your company’s life cycle.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
While one school of thought believes leaders are born, BCR strongly believes leaders can be developed. One of BCR’s passions is leadership and how that quality is identified, nurtured, and developed within business settings. To support this passion, BCR has worked with the founding team of the Hawaii Leadership Center in the development of that organization’s leadership curriculum. BCR has also worked with Kamehameha Schools in strategic planning for their Pauahi Leadership Center. Whether the organization has identified a high potential employee who can benefit from leadership coaching or the organization seeks to design and implement a leadership development workshop, BCR can help.

BOARD RELATIONS
Putting together a high powered board, populated by individuals who are well connected and have a reputation for getting things done is often the easy part of board management. The challenges of working with the board is to optimize the results they can create to foster a spirit of trust and team, to achieve levels of communication that support the organization, and to ensure that the board members feel they are making valuable contributions. BCR has extensive experience in supporting non-profit organizations in the area of board relations and board effectiveness. We have worked with numerous non-profits to improve board effectiveness and communication between board and senior management by defining and optimizing board member roles, working with the board on performance and compensation reviews for the senior leaders, and much more.
